Snow day!!!
It has been the coldest winter in Dallas in like 4 or 5 years. Schools and businesses have been shut down due to ice and snow storms. I know some of you don't get it, I mean look at all that snow......... But we don't have the best drivers here in this part of the state. Plus we don't deal with these conditions very often.what do we do...SHUT ER DOWN!!!

BRRRRRR!!
This is probably the closest we'll come to snow this year, Ice on the trees in the Park...
The winter ice storm of the year came through this weekend sending everyone in to a frenzy. Our grocery store was packed yesterday morning, they said it was as busy as the day before Thanksgiving. Everyone stocking up and preparing for a weekend spent in the warm indoors. The line from freezing to not went directly through our part of Texas. Fort Worth freezing, Denton freezing and everything west of Dallas freezing...Plano, Dallas and east Texas just cold with tons of RAIN-which we really really need!!
These pictures are from the park two blocks from us!!

One Great Book!!
I just finished this book......OH MY GAWD, it's sooo good. John Grisham is now one of my favorite authors. I love his writing style, especially in this non-fiction book.Goooo gettt it!!
ABOUT THIS BOOK
John Grisham’s first work of nonfiction, an exploration of small town justice gone terribly awry, is his most extraordinary legal thriller yet.
In the major league draft of 1971, the first player chosen from the State of Oklahoma was Ron Williamson. When he signed with the Oakland A’s, he said goodbye to his hometown of Ada and left to pursue his dreams of big league glory.
Six years later he was back, his dreams broken by a bad arm and bad habits—drinking, drugs, and women. He began to show signs of mental illness. Unable to keep a job, he moved in with his mother and slept twenty hours a day on her sofa.
In 1982, a 21-year-old cocktail waitress in Ada named Debra Sue Carter was raped and murdered, and for five years the police could not solve the crime. For reasons that were never clear, they suspected Ron Williamson and his friend Dennis Fritz. The two were finally arrested in 1987 and charged with capital murder.
With no physical evidence, the prosecution’s case was built on junk science and the testimony of jailhouse snitches and convicts. Dennis Fritz was found guilty and given a life sentence. Ron Williamson was sent to death row.
If you believe that in America you are innocent until proven guilty, this book will shock you. If you believe in the death penalty, this book will disturb you. If you believe the criminal justice system is fair, this book will infuriate you.

See you next year!!
I have to say, I was disappointed in the ending of this game much like I was disappointed in the ending of the previous week. Both failed attempts of Romo running into the endzone like a wild man to win the game. It's done, and we'll see a better team next year--I predict...
Romo did an awesome job of taking on the starting quarterback position mid season, then doing a few exciting things to give us all hope for the rest of 2006. Over all we ended up in a better place than we would have with Bledsoe.
I'm sad its over for this year College and Pro football!! What will we do with our weekends now????????? Seems like I forget and remember every year...But right now I have no idea...Spend more money???
Oh WELL, Next year we plan on making it to a few more Cowboy's and Raiders games...I think its time for Ava to experience the Red Raider Hype, much like I did when I was little, their never to little for this(right Britta?)
The most fun for me in 2006 was watching Matthias and his new found enthusiasm for our beloved sport....He lived for his fantasy football and spent many of hours on the couch tuned into ESPN...He's quite the pro now, with 3 seasons under his belt!!
So long a farewell football season, we'll see you in August....yipeee I can have a beer with everyone then...heehee!!
